A charming place to stay. Wonderfully clean, decorated to a high standard, safe and well located in a leafy neighbourhood with shops and public transport links close by (metro, buses). The staff are friendly and helpful. Food is good and can be enjoyed on a lovely rooftop terrace. Plenty of lounge areas throughout the property from which to work.

Nice location

Nice location, in a less chaotic neighbourhood of Delhi and with modern buildings. Spacious, bright and well-furnished room. Very kind staff.

Very good experience

All the staff was very helpful and lovely, the room was super clean and spacious, the terrace on the rooftop where they serve breakfast and dinner was a nice touch, the area very calm and soothing, very good experience, don’t hesitate to stay at Colonel’s Retreat, you won’t regret it :) Nothing to complain about

Modern and beautifully decorated

We stayed in the secondary property, which was modern and beautifully decorated. Meals are had at the main property (3 houses down the road). The staff were lovely. Great breakfast on the rooftop. Location was 5 5-minute walk to an area with restaurants. Would stay here again, it’s a quiet part of Delhi.

Wonderful staff

I stayed at this hotel on my way to Europe and on my way back home, and it was a great hotel. This time I was able to have breakfast, and I was also very impressed with the young and wonderful staff at the breakfast venue.

I was lucky to be able to stay

The best thing was that the information posted on the Booking.com website was accurate. It is very common for hotels in Delhi to display maps in locations that are not true, or to heavily edit photos of the rooms, so you need to be careful. It was a little more expensive than some of the more shady hotels, but it was still much cheaper than well-known hotels, and I was lucky to be able to stay there safely. I had arranged a taxi the night before for my early morning flight, but if you have time, it would be much more economical to take the subway, as we did when we arrived. Also, this area seems to be one of the safest areas in Delhi, with restrictions on vehicle access from outside. I could understand why it was so popular and difficult to book.

Excellent value for money

The perfect stay in Delhi We can’t recommend The Colonel’s Retreat highly enough. It is excellent value for money, but so much more than that. Suman and her team were so attentive to our every need and went out of their way to be helpful. Our stay was just as the COVID 19 epidemic was gathering pace and the hotel was a place of calm and safety away from the mayhem. It is scrupulously clean, with cool and spacious communal indoor lounges as well as a lovely roof terrace. Delicious and interesting food with great explanations of what’s on the plate. This is an outstandingly organised gem of a place and I wish them continued success for the future!--

A home Away from Home in South Delhi.

Excellent homestay which felt like my own home away from home. Excellent staff, home-cooked meals and a superb clean residence. Lovely property in the heart of South Delhi. Safety was well taken care of and the staff were exceptional in taking care of my dietary restrictions and small and big needs. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! I was great and lovely experience at Colonel's Retreat, Defense Colony.

It was a great stay, lovely boutique home stay with delicious food. Esther sits in a front office and she is very nice and very helpful. Location was great and very centric. Atmosphere is nice and very lovable. 100% value for money. Front office and housekeeping services are great. very clear and hygiene room. We were from USA and keeping in mind that, the amenities was all good.

Location, service, comfort

Located in a lovely peaceful neighbourhood of Delhi with metro and stores nearby. The rooms, facilities and meals were great plus wonderful service from everyone there. We also loved the personal touches like advice and assistance offered by the staff. Highly recommended!

Gem in Delhi

We stayed here as a last stop in India, to explore Delhi. After 3 weeks of intense travel, Colonels Retreated was a lovely reprieve from the chaos of Delhi. We stayed in their Sister Location, we had a good sized bedroom and bathroom in a large modern apartment, with a large lounge and dining area. Breakfast was across the road. Very comfortable, beautifully appointed rooms. Breakfast was on the rooftop, the staff make sure you are well looked after and there is a good choice of European and Indian Breakfast. It’s 5-10min walk to other restaurants near by.

Great, affordable, comfort

Wonderful place, clean spacious rooms and with great food available from a brilliant rooftop vista. This is a smashing location, with amazingly helpful staff. This is my second stay and I look forward to more. Colonel’s Retreat in Defence Colony truly feels like a home away from home. The rooms are airy, comfortable, and impeccably maintained, offering just the right mix of warmth and privacy. The rooftop dining area is a standout feature—not only is the food consistently delicious, but the setting adds a peaceful charm, especially during breakfast or evening meals. The staff go above and beyond, always ready to assist with a smile. Their hospitality feels personal and genuine, which makes all the difference. The location is also ideal—quiet yet central, with easy access to some of Delhi’s best cafes, markets, and cultural spots.

Family atmosphere in the heart of Delhi

Colonel's Retreat stands out not only for its well-maintained, clean rooms but also for its extremely friendly, family-like atmosphere. For example, despite an early departure to the airport, a breakfast package was specially delivered to the room. Additionally, there is a rooftop terrace where a delicious breakfast, tea, and coffee, as well as a highly recommended dinner, are served. Overall, it comes with a wholehearted recommendation!

Lovely hotel tucked away but decent walking distance to the metro

Lovely hotel with a community feel - good food also, cooked fresh on the premises by amazingly talented chefs. All staff and friendly and welcoming. Rooms are comfy and spacious, with lovely bathrooms that have walk in showers. Quality of our stay was great, so thank you!

Great stay at Colonel's Retreat

It was just a delight to stay at the Colonel’s Retreat. As others have said, it is located on a quiet side street in a neighborhood so it is away from all the hustle and bustle of Delhi activity. My standard room in the outbuilding was fairly large with a substantially sized bed containing what seemed more like a futon than a standard box spring and mattress. Whatever it was, I had no trouble falling asleep as it was quite comfortable. Breakfast and afternoon tea on the rooftop terrace were included in the room rate, where it was always pleasant even when temperatures reached the triple digits (Fahrenheit). Others have raved about the banana bread, which is quite good, so I will put in a plug for ordering the akuri (a spiced scrambled eggs dish) as your breakfast main. They were consistently delicious. As for the afternoon tea, I don’t even like tea normally yet I looked forward each day to a variety of English teas (with plenty of milk) or, even better, masala chai. The available baked goods are not to be missed. It was a pleasant way to unwind from the day and prepare for the evening. Dinner is also available at an additional cost. It’s good value for the money given the quantity and quality of the food provided. All of the above wouldn’t mean so much if the staff at Colonel’s Retreat weren’t top notch, and they were so much more than that. Everyone was consistently pleasant and helpful, and did everything they could to meet any request. It is my own fault for not getting the names of everyone with whom I was in contact, so I can only make special mention of Mr. Parmod. Without his vigilance, I would very likely have missed my flight back to the states; my compliments to you, sir.

I had an exceptional stay at Colonel's Retreat! The hospitality was outstanding, with incredibly friendly and attentive staff. The beds were extremely comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The rooms were charmingly decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and they were fully equipped with everything I needed. The Wi-Fi connection was excellent, allowing me to stay connected throughout my stay. The choice of pillows was also impressive, ensuring that I could find the perfect one for a good night's sleep. One of the highlights of my stay was the beautiful rooftop terrace, which offered a lovely ambiance and delicious organic food. Overall, it was by far the best place I've stayed in Delhi, offering great value for money. Highly recommend it!

Homely Welcoming Stay

On entering the Colonel's retreat hotel it felt such a homely and welcoming resting place. Rooms were spotlessly clean with everything you needed. Each floor had a lounge area, but the best place was on the roof which had a relaxing vibe. The meals we had were served on the rooftop restaurant and were all of excellent quality. All the staff were so helpful and willing to please. Will definitely revisit when going back to New Delhi.

One of the best places I have ever been. Very comfortable, well located, cozy, outstanding service. The terrace and the food had been unforgettable. Big and comfortable rooms, common areas and people ready to help you either anything you may need, I highly recommend it!.

A home away from home stay !

This is the first guest house experience we’ve had in India and it was amazing. Located in the prime of South Delhi, close to the best shopping and restaurants, Colonel’s retreat is a jewel in the heart of Delhi: From welcoming and attentive staff, to beautiful clean rooms and a wide array of breakfast choices, we felt comfortable and a feeling of home away from home. We’ve stayed in luxury hotels all over the world but this was one of our top experiences so far. The little touches like home baked banana bread and fruits left in the rooms to taking care of my dietary needs of gluten and dairy free items, we were very touched and impressed. A must- stay in Delhi whether you’re here for work or leisure:

Highly Recommended

After spending 16 days discovering parts of northern and southern India, arriving at Colonel’s Retreat where we began our journey was the perfect way to end it. The staff remembered us and their warm welcome felt like a homecoming. Our room was immaculate and it had a balcony overlooking potted flowers and mature trees. The meals served on a beautiful rooftop patio are terrific and the servers are thoughtful, friendly and efficient. We would highly recommend this B&B to any travellers planning to spend time in New Delhi.

Das Colonel's ist in einem ruhigen Quartier gelegen, mit guten Distanzen zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und sauber, sie werden auch frisch gemacht. Da rund um das Hotel wenig Lokalitäten vorhanden sind empfiehlt sich das Nachtessen im Hotel einzunehmen. Es ist äusserst lecker und wird wie auch die Getränke zu einem fairen Preis angeboten. Den Abend auf dem Rooftop zu verbringen und zu essen hat denn auch sehr Erholsames nach einem Tag im hektischen Delhi... Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam in allen Belangen, manchmal würde sogar eine Fragerunde weniger reichen ???????????? Wir würden wieder kommen und können das Colonel's empfehlen.
